The magnetic head above the globe contains an electromagnet and a magnetic field sensor, and the frame base accommodates the microprocessor and the electronic control components. Magnetic field sensor records the magnetic field generated by permanent magnets in the global sphere and transmits this to the computer. The computer evaluates this data 16,000 times a second and controls the electronic magnets accordingly, accurately moving the globe sphere upwards or downwards. An additional, permanent magnet in the base holds the sphere safely on the frame when the suspension mechanism is switched off.
